Big Daddy’s Restaurant- Massapequa, NY

Big Daddy’s Restaurant in Massapequa, “Home of Southern Food & Pit BBQ”, two of my favorite cuisines. Located less than 10 miles away, I have no idea how I was unaware of this place which opened in 1993.

Specializing in Cajun, Creole and Southern foods, this restaurant is sure to please. One of the many things I like about Big Daddy’s is their menu changes daily. They offer a variety of dishes ranging from Cajun favorites like Gumbo, Jambalaya and Po’Boys to more adventurous entrees like the Jefferson Parish Blackened Gator. For BBQ lovers like myself, they offer the Chicken and Ribs Combo and The Big Pig Out. Both feature BBQ Chicken and St. Louis style spare ribs.

For my entrée I had the Cajun Burger which is a 10oz. Black Angus Burger topped w/ Colby-Jack cheese, Andouille Sausage & Chipotle-Sour Cream on a Brioche Bun. This amazing burger is what initially caught my attention on Instagram. I opted to add brisket to my burger which took it to another level. The burger was every bit as delicious as it appeared in pictures. It is the perfect combination of “heat and sweet”. I generally don’t like spicy food but this was very enjoyable. There is a sweetness to the sauce which balances out any heat.

The evening was enjoyable from start the finish. The server was attentive, the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was delicious. We had a slight wait for our table but that is completely understandable for a restaurant with food that is consistently delicious. This will now be one of my go-to restaurants.
