One of my favorite desserts to make for the holidays is cheesecake. I love to change up the recipe by adding different ingredients and flavors. This year for Mother’s Day I decided to spice things up by swapping out my usual graham cracker crust for Oreo cookies and adding chocolate chips. I used the Chocolate Crème Oreos which was a nice compliment to the chocolate chips.
I love the combination of chocolate and mint so I added crumbled peppermint baking squares to the top of the cake. They added a hint of peppermint without becoming overwhelming. This cake was a big hit with my family. I will definitely make this again for Christmas when Peppermint Bark is in season.
Baking should be fun. Don’t be afraid to try different combinations of ingredients and flavors. It’s the perfect time to be creative and surprise your guests.
