Max Brenner-New York is located in the Union Square vicinity. The location is great and the atmosphere inside makes for a nice dining experience. I had dinner with my friend Jeanette after work. We had a lovely evening. We had reservations so we were seated at our table right away. The service was good and the menu selections were so great it was almost overwhelming. You just don’t know where to start.
I am a die-hard chocolate lover so the vast menu of delicious food made with chocolate presented a challenge for me. Luckily enough I saw an ad featuring the “Really-Cheesy Shrimp, Chorizo and Truffle Mac-n-Cheese” the week before so I knew what I wanted to order as an entrée. However, everything else presented a huge dilemma.
My first dilemma was my beverage. My friend ordered the Chocolate Martini. I decided to go easy and just order something light. I didn’t want to fill up too soon and not have room for an appetizer, entrée and dessert. My goal was to have all 3.
I was intrigued by the thought of dark chocolate ranch dressing so we ordered the “Black & Tan Beer-Battered Vidalia Onion Rings”. The onion rings were fantastic but the dark chocolate ranch dressing was not as good as I expected. There was nothing spectacular about the taste. The star of the show was the “Really-Cheesy Shrimp, Chorizo and Truffle Mac-n-Cheese”. That was everything I hoped for and more!! The entrée alone was worth the trip. It looked every bit as good as the picture I saw in the ad. It lived up to its name of being “really cheesy”. The cheese was thick, rich and delicious. The flavor was superb. The shrimp and chorizo were very tasty. If they had added a bit more chorizo I would rate it a perfect 10. I still give it a 9.5. It was that good to me. Jeanette had “The Oozing Mac & Burger”. Just look at the picture to see for yourself how delicious it looks. The mac & cheese was oozing out just like its name.
One of the most popular items to order is the fondue. Most of the people around us had fondue on their tables. I decided to do something different and order “The Melting Chocolate Truffle Heart Cake & Shake”. It was served with an iced milk chocolate shot which was a great idea. It was a nice compliment to the rich chocolate cake.
I will plan another trip to Max Brenner’s soon. There is so much more I want to sample. I would love to try the “Chocolate Chunks Pizza” or “Build-Your-Own-Cake”. Any way you slice it, Max Brenner has something for everyone.
Enjoy.
