Pies-n-Thighs- Brooklyn, New York

Finally! I’ve heard about Pies-n-Thighs for some time now but I never made it to Williamsburg to taste and see for myself until recently. Like most of the restaurants I have been to lately, it was very small. It was so small my cousins and I were asked to wait outside until a table was available. We had about a 25-minute wait. This wouldn’t have been a problem in good weather but it was cold with snow flurries. Based on that experience, I would suggest going on a nice day when the weather is warm.

I checked out the menu online before going so I planned my meal in advance. I ordered the 3 pieces of chicken with a side of home fries and a biscuit. My cousins both ordered the Chicken & Waffles. I really enjoyed the chicken. It was very hot and crispy. The flavor was good. The home fries were cooked with onions and what tasted like dill. I thought the dill flavor was a little bit strong.  I prefer to just taste the potatoes and onions. The buckwheat waffles were very good. They had a slightly different flavor from regular waffles.

I’ve read Pies-n-Thighs had the best donuts in New York City. The donuts are big, not the biggest I have had but larger than your average donut. I had my heart set on the Chocolate Peppermint donut. Of course, that was the only donut they did not have that day!  I ended up getting a Chocolate Cake donut to go. The donut was crisp on the outside and slightly sticky.  Honestly, I wasn’t crazy about it. I was expecting something much better based on what I have read about them.

All-in-all, even with having to wait outside in the cold, I enjoyed my meal. It was a decent lunch for the price so I can’t complain.

It sounds like a good place to go to. I’m kind of a purist like you when it comes you certain foods. Dill in the home fries? No. Some things you must leave alone….lol. When I was growing up you did not walk around in Williamsburg so it would be interesting to finally get a chance to see what I missed for so long. Good review…

  2. I went with Sandy and Cary. We had a nice afternoon as usual. That was my first time to Williamsburg. I plan to go back. There is another place that was recommended to me.
