Burn your tongue? Got that burning feeling? I did and I reached for this ……

Over the last couple of weeks I have been hearing the same commercial on the radio that mentions a quick remedy to heal a burn on your tongue. It did not make much sense to me when I heard it nor did I understand the science behind it. But, I will tell you I tried it and it worked for me, twice!

Wouldn’t you know within a week of hearing the commerical, I burned my tongue while tasting food I was cooking. Trying to multi-task, I put the food in my mouth without letting it cool thoroughly. Burn #1 here we go. Who has time for a burned tongue when you are in the middle of cooking a meal? Not me. I always taste my food as I go along so I certainly do not have time to deal with that kind of pain. Luckily enough the commercial came to mind so I figured I would put their remedy to the test.

What did I do you ask? I grabbed my canister of sugar! That’s right, I put a pinch of sugar directly on the burn (just enough to cover it) and let it dissolve. That instantly relieved about 80% of the pain. I needed it to be 100% healed right away so I put another pinch of sugar on my tongue and let it melt. That did the trick because I did not feel any pain after that.

Unfortunately, I burned my tongue again a couple of weeks later so I had a chance to repeat this remedy to see if it would work a second time. It did and I was good to go within minutes.

I wish I had known about this years ago! I remember burning my tongue and sometimes waiting days for it to heal completely.

Of course, if you are not supposed to eat sugar, then do not try this.
I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone but it worked for me.

Regards,
Allison
