A colleague of mine recommended Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer to me because of their amazing milkshakes. These shakes are not just your ordinary milkshake. They are huge, deliciously decorated and tons of fun to eat and drink. While I was eating my entrée, I could not stop myself from watching the staff as they brought out different flavors of shakes to other the tables. I was so excited looking at all of the varieties. They just kept getting better. They were covered with whipped cream, cookies, candy, brownies, cotton candy etc. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Everything looked so good I was anxious to finish my meal so I could order my shake.
While Black Tap may have a reputation for its shakes, the food is equally as good. For my entrée I ordered the Black Tap Wings Platter. The platter consisted of spicy Korean BBQ wings with Buttermilk-Dill dressing and sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed the wings. They had the flavor of General Tso’s chicken. I was worried about the level of heat but it was just right. The Buttermilk-Dill dressing was incredible. It reminded me of my favorite ranch dressing served at another one of my favorite local places to eat. The sweet potato fries were excellent. They were served hot and crispy. The only thing missing for me was a nice sweet creamy dipping sauce.
My daughter ordered The Texan Burger which is loaded with bacon, cheese, an onion ring, mayo and BBQ sauce served with a side of fries. The burger was seasoned well and the bun was very fresh and soft.
I ordered the Brooklyn Blowout shake topped with loads of whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, chocolate sauce and two brownies. Just eating through the mound of whipped cream and chocolate chips was exciting. The shake was so filling I should have skipped my entrée and went straight to dessert! I couldn’t finish the shake so I ended up bringing most of it home along with the brownies. It was still good even after traveling over an hour home.
In addition to the good food and great shake, the atmosphere was casual and fun. Customers write on the tables and booths as you can see in the pictures. Right in front of me was a booth with my name written on the back. Of course I had to take a picture of it.
I will definitely return to Black Tap. Next time I will make sure not to eat earlier in the day so I can have enough room to enjoy both my meal and my shake. Overall, two thumbs up.
Enjoy~Allison
